JAMES K. FLOYD

Mr. Floyd is the Managing Partner of the San Antonio office. He joined Daw & Ray as an Of Counsel in the Spring of 2005 and was promoted to partner in January of 2006. Before joining Daw & Ray, Mr. Floyd served for over 13 years with distinction as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps. A former Major, his notable assignments included service as the Chief Prosecutor for the Air Force’s largest circuit. He also served as the Deputy Chief, Circuit Defense Counsel for the European Circuit and was a base defense counsel at Osan Air Base, Korea. He was also an adjunct faculty member for advocacy courses at the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School. He was honored to be selected as the Air Force’s Outstanding Judge Advocate of the Year for 2002.

Mr. Floyd’s civil litigation practice focuses in the areas of personal injury, premises liability, premises security, products liability, trucking and construction defect cases.

Mr. Floyd continues to practice military law as a civilian attorney, to include defending service members from all branches in a wide range of criminal proceedings, investigations, and adverse administrative actions. He also represents clients in state and federal criminal proceedings.

Mr. Floyd is admitted to all Federal District Courts in Texas. He is also admitted to the U.S. Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the San Antonio Bar Association, and the Military Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

He is a 1988 graduate of South Dakota State University where he was a Distinguished Graduate from the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer’s Training Corps program. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota in 1991 and was licensed to practice law by South Dakota. He has been licensed to practice law in Texas since leaving the Air Force in 2005.
