CARLA B. PELÁEZ REYES
Ms. Peláez grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to Houston in 2008. In 2013, Ms. Peláez received a Bachelor of the Arts in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish from the University of Houston. She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center and was licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in 2017.
During law school, Ms. Peláez served as Articles Editor for the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal, as Special Events Coordinator for The Advocates, and worked as a Research Assistant for the Lawyering Skills and Strategies Department. While in law school, Ms. Peláez joined the mock trial team where she competed in numerous trial competitions and she was recognized as a semi-finalist in the National Trial Competition. Ms. Peláez was also declared Champion and Best Speaker at a University of Houston Law Center Intramural Mock Trial Tournament. As a result of her pursuit of advocacy, Ms. Peláez was presented with the Outstanding Advocate Award at The UHLC Advocacy Banquet.
Prior to joining Daw & Ray, Ms. Peláez interned in various divisions of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office including Misdemeanor, Felony and Human Trafficking Divisions. Ms. Peláez’s areas of concentration include construction, personal injury, premises liability, commercial liability and first and third party insurance defense.
